چکیده
In this Tutorial, we give a pedagogical introduction to Majorana bound states (MBSs) arising in semiconducting nanostructures. We start by briefly reviewing the well-known Kitaev chain toy model order introduce some of basic properties MBSs before proceeding describe more experimentally relevant platforms. Here, our focus lies on simple `minimal' models where wave functions can be obtained explicitly standard methods. first part, review paradigmatic Rashba nanowire with strong spin-orbit interaction (SOI) placed magnetic field and proximitized conventional $s$-wave superconductor. identify topological phase transition separating trivial from demonstrate how explicit limit SOI. second discuss engineered edge two-dimensional (2D) insulators. Jackiw-Rebbi mechanism leading emergence at mass domain walls show exploited construct MBSs. Due their recent interest, also include discussion corner 2D second-order superconductors. This Tutorial is mainly aimed graduate students -- both theorists experimentalists seeking familiarize themselves concepts field.

Viewing Majorana Bound States by Rabi Oscillations
We propose to use Rabi oscillation as a probe to view the fractional Josepshon relation (FJR) associated with Majorana bound states (MBSs) expected in one-dimensional topological superconductors. The system consists of a quantum dot (QD) and an rf-SQUID with MBSs at the Josephson junction. Rabi oscillations between energy levels formed by MBSs are induced by ac gate voltage controlling the coup...
متن کاملUnconventional Josephson signatures of Majorana bound states.
A junction between two topological superconductors containing a pair of Majorana fermions exhibits a "fractional" Josephson effect, 4π periodic in the superconductors' phase difference. An additional fractional Josephson effect, however, arises when the Majorana fermions are spatially separated by a superconducting barrier. This new term gives rise to a set of Shapiro steps which are essentiall...
متن کاملAndreev Bound States in Ferromagnet - Superconductor Nanostructures ⋆
We discuss the properties of a ferromagnet superconductor heterostructure on the basis of a Hubbard model featuring exchange splitting in the ferromagnet and electron electron attraction in the superconductor. We have solved the spin polarized Hartree Fock Gorkov equations together with the Maxwell’s equation (Ampere’s law) fully self-consistently. We have found that a Proximity Effect Fulde Fe...

متن کاملHelical liquids and Majorana bound states in quantum wires.
We show that the combination of spin-orbit coupling with a Zeeman field or strong interactions may lead to the formation of a helical electron liquid in single-channel quantum wires, with spin and velocity perfectly correlated. We argue that zero-energy Majorana bound states are formed in various situations when such wires are situated in proximity to a conventional s-wave superconductor. This ...
